IMHO this is a stamp that is victim of poorly aligned plates in the printing process. When these and numerous other stamps are printed they are pinted in layers. Red, blue, green and yellow. If the paper or the various machines are not aligned properly you will get the "shadowing" or "ghosting" effects that appear on this one. As for the rarity or value maybe someone else can comment on that seeing as how I am still new and still learning about that point of the hobby. I just know about how this effect can happen because I took Print Shop in High School and we spent lot of time on this and how to correct it.

Cimarron

Great answer ! I would be surprised if anyone commented on the rarity or lack of. It seems that this user is fishing for info that can be used to scam or con folks on ebay etc.

However the info and description on how this type of printing issue can occure is great stuff !

Unfortunately, there are individuals that come to the forum with alterior motives. They usually don't stay long. We never know what others intentions are with the questions they ask and the info we give them. All we can do is give honest answers. Otherwise we will become suspicious of everyone. That's no fun.
