First of all, congratulations, Ron!

If I do sell this stamp I would like to see it gain Scott recognition with the actual sale price as the Scott value. However it is my understanding that the Scott value is generally biased on auctions sales information.
As far as I know, that is still the case. However, Scott is known for being inconsistent in the way they handle things, so...

Do they ever consider private sales as Scv?
Not that I know of, but... if you can at least get them to assign a catalog number and get a "-" in the price listing. That would show the stamp is not only known to exist, but has been accepted by the catalog as being genuine and in collector hands. Also, the editors might be persuaded to put the private sale price as a footnote.

Also how does one get Scott to list a stamp?
For such a significant find, I would contact the editors directly, either by email or phone. You will most likely have to provide the stamp for examination, unless you somehow have managed to get it expertized with a certificate, or a heavy hitter with influence at Scott examines the stamp and comes to bat for you.
If it was me, I would sell the stamp as soon as possible and worry about the catalog listing later. To get first acknowledgment, I would go through Linn's. Contact Linn's and send a good scan of the front/back of the stamp as well as the supporting historical/published information. Linn's will associate your name with the stamp find. In general, Scott will not acknowledge the who's and where's of the stamp find/transaction.
Hope the info/suggestion is helpful. Remember, nothing's in concrete with Scott. Bottom line, contact them directly.
And please please please keep us updated!
