If you look at the image of the stamp that he posted its looks identical to the one pictured in the auction here:
http://stampauctionnetwork.com/f/f1365.cfm#14

I just can see how 2 diffrent stamps have the same cuts on the boarder.

Dare I say HOAX?

That's because Ron was the buyer. He stated in his first post on this thread (12/5/2011) that he purchased it at public auction. Your link is to that auction (Aug 2011).

Not sure what you meant by "HOAX"?

I think Joe Stamps just misunderstood the original post.

TheSeal619 is the buyer of said stamp shown in the auction for $300.00. That auction featured the only 2 known copies of that stamp and apparently it got the attention of some big-time collectors. I was curious if he every made the private sale.

TheSeal619, where are you?!?

Brian

My Bad, Kudos to 619 if he got 6 figures for it then I guess he hit the philatelist home run, grand slam perhaps. Ah we can all dream.

Happy Hunting.

Very likely. Granted, it was one of those "you had to be there at that time" things. Easy to miss out on the context a year later.

I imagine an IRS agent is in a Coast Guard cutter following close behind!
