Lovely various Halas Lace stamps from Hungary 1964.
History of Halas Lace:
The lacemaking centers of the world were in Europe, and
until after the French Revolution bobbin lace was the most popular-requiring bobbins, pins, and a pillow.
Lace was in demand for the wealthy, especially of France. In 1902 a Hungarian designer along with his mom and friends developed a new form of lace making for the war torn country of Hungary. This new lace required very few tools and was worked with a needle and thread over a paper pattern.
Thanks!
