What color is puce? Stanley Gibbons does not list it in their
Stamp Color Key (at least the one I have)

I have seen several references to that color in the new UK Postal stationery catalog.

I did a search on google, and it seems that all PUCE's are not equal. (The colors vary all over the place).

Anyone know of a stable source for this color?

from the urban dictionary
a reddish brown color; ask a person what color they think "puce" is and it
becomes a test: only classy females and classy feminine males get it right.

AFAIK puce covers a range.

Hi all,
Flea colour, purple brown. From the French
according to the Concise Oxford Dictionary of Current English.

'Puce spotters' on the Georgette Heyer list would like to hear about this thread.

Cheers
Ron.

A small little town just outside Windsor Ontario- ironically the Town of Puce has a small creek like river running through it (puce river) that would pretty well sum up the color of reddish brown YUK. Now i'm wondering if that is why the town got the name based on the color of the water???
