I'm looking for help on how to classify these covers.

The stickers on them were mistaken for stamps and cancelled. Then it looks like someone at the PO noticed this and cancelled the stamp.

Is there a name for covers like these?

Guess:
Both covers have gone through the machine canceller upside down,
noticed, and both stamps cancelled by roller canceller.

very interesting. I noticed they are from not only two different stations but yet two different states. if they had been from same area you could say someone was lazing around on the job.

Yes, I can see how you came to that conclusion,
upside down through the machine is not uncommon,
I think the roller is though, nice examples to have in one's collection.
