I forgot to mention that I bought a bunch of U.S. plate blocks and other older issues (13 to 22 cents) at the New Orleans stamp show. I enjoy using them for corrspondence with other collectors, so some of you will be seeing one or more in the near future.

How many of you use "out of circulation" postage?

I just found several sheets of 13 cent stamps that had not been stored properly and stuck to each other. Time for the gluestick!

Cim:

I use obsolete postage all the time. I purchase it at the stamp shop I work part-time at, and I don't pay tax on it.

I only buy current Canadian postage for a few American friends who collect Canada.

I think non-collectors notice more than one stamp on a letter... and that it promotes the hobby.

I use the older postage too! I think it gives my letters to stamp collecting friends a definite message---"I love stamps!"

Hello everyone......

I use a lot of them also, but I like to use new issues for some things. Bills get things like the ABC stamps, for collector friends I usually try to alternate between new and older stamps. It's nice getting below face postage but we need to use new issues to try to encourage new collectors and to create a stock of new used material.

I use out of circulation postage with all my stamp friends. It's also fun to receive it on letters. Makes for great covers. (NR-NOTRARE)... Miriam just loves the stamps you put on her letters with her monthly geography lesson. She is keeping up with you as well....filling her album as she gets your letters. She is thrilled with everyone that arrives.

David, I was going to be insulted, but since it's Cimarron I guess I can let it slide this time!

Now Greg I'm not that bad am I????? I mean I kinda felt a bit of honor there considering what all you have been thru in the short time I have been on the forum and the fact that you are still here with us. I just hope if I ever go thru anything like that I have the strength to carry on as you have. And yes I do still have the covers in frames, one is by my front door and the other is over my computer.
