Hi all, I am a crossover fromj the coins forum. I have a continuing interest in stamps, although I am not as active as I once was.

One of my interests is the early issues of Great Britain. Many years ago I sold my Penny Blacks, and have ecently decided that I want to get another.

I am hoping someone here can recommend a dealer here in the US sho carries British stamps.

Looking forward to replies and thanks in advance.

Hi Ron, I have a penny black I purchased in the 80's..it has one good margin and trimmed close on 3 sides..but it was 30 dollars and I wanted a penny black to call my own...of course a copy with 4 good margins is going to cost many multiples of what I paid.. This is just my experience..but I have found at shows the bigger dealers especially those selling British items are not too eager to dicker on price...they can afford to hold on to stamps until they get their price..i prefer the smaller dealer..you can talk to them and I believe a person to person purchase is the best way to go..of course if this is not possible and you are buying on the internet or from a catalog its a different story...it pays to shop around..THERE ARE NO SHORTAGE of PENNY BLACKS..someone has one for sale !!

Welcome !
Nice to have another classics collector on board. The margins on the penny black are an important factor a well as the intensity of the pigment. I have seen penny blacks with 4 margins that are quit faded.
