Yep, it downloads OK
someone shall have to run the *.exe file to see if
it demands a product number to run.

I attempted to install v3.1 and it required a product key. That is as far as I got. Thanks for continuing to look. Your thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated.

I wonder about ebay?
I swear by the MSWorks database / spreadsheet and wordprocessor
version 4.5a
for example you can sometimes get that on ebay for aboyt $8
ACDSee 3.1 may be similar?

how about just going out and buying MS Office for the home? or if you are a student get an academic version.

I don't know about USA but MS Office is depending on version at least £100 in UK.
Google docs is as good for what I need although I do have a full Office 2010 license from work that I have never used.
Other alternatives are Open Office which is also free.

For ACDSee 3.1 try searching for a 'portable' version.
I try to use portable versions of apps where possible as they do not need to be installed and can be run from USB sticks etc so do not clutter up your system.

OpenOffice..
That will pretty do everything you want and is free.
paint.net is good program for managing images.. or even picassa does a good job.
