Can someone tell me what distinguishes Scott 481 from Scott 531. I don't have either stamp, but was looking at the features of some of the Washington Types when I noticed that the catalog seems to list both of these stamps with all the same characteristics --or maybe I missed something. I am using a Scott 2001 Specialized Catalog, but that shouldn't make any difference for stamps issued in the 'teens. Please help.

Scott 481 is Flat Plate Printing; Scott 531 is Offset Printing. While not related to the imperfs, we just had a recent thread about the Offset Printing Stamps at this link that may be helpful:

Thanks for the info, wt1. I checked the catalog again and sure enough, I had overlooked the spot where Scott specified the offset printing. That link is useful information.
