Heres something I wonder about myself...Souvinir sheets...they are colorful...only a collector would use one for postage..i have a nice collection of used Canadian sheets thanks to friends up North. What is the concensus of the group...do you collect them as part of your collection ? Do you consider them philatelic weeds ? I am asking for it !!

Great question Phil. A while back I wondered the same thing. I wasn't going to bother. Then I started seeing them here and there and managed to find most of the US and Canadian. I purchased some bulk lots that had some Germany, Poland, and other odd countries. I also purchased a bunch of them from our friend Mr Bus. I guess what I'm trying to say is I now collect them. I guess it all depends on what albums you are using..If you are printing album pages using Steiner, they include all the S/S sheets.
I am not familiar with the Internationals, Do they have spaces for them ????

Most of the Canadian S/S sheets are produced in enough quantity that some dealers have used them on cover to me.
I would think that it would be more of a challenge to get them commercially used than in MNH condition.

I've got a couple of the older US ones (Farley etc) and a couple from the UN, but otherwise I don't pursue them. I'm never sure how to mount them in my album. I have this 1947 US on a FDC that I kind of like. |

I collect them because they are listed in Scott, except if the souvenir sheet contain many times the same stamp then not necessarily. |

As far as USA goes I have them all with the only exception being the White Plains souvenir sheet and I actually have doubles of most of them and only really acquired them in different lots that I had purchased over the past 2 years. I only need a complete #750 as I only have the top 4 of a sheet of 6. Oh well. They are even difficult to display in vario sheets. I do enjoy them though especially the Farley issued ones.
P.S. James I have never seen that one postally used whole. Usually they are separated with a scissor. Also if you ever decide to part with it...lol |

tikithindi that does not sound like a bad idea..i prefer to keep my sheets in their country albums...at stamp shows I have been able to find dealers with opened packages of large showgard or Scotts mounts that they will sell for a dollar or two..the hunt continues ! |

As it pertains to the 1947 CIPEX Souvenir Sheet FDC previously posted, I also have this oversized one that I especially like. The only problem with these oversized covers is that they can be difficult to store properly: |

Nice cover WT. I have that S/S but it's plastered to an album page I got in a lot mix.
Correction I have the 1956 5th Philatelic Exhibition S/S with the 3cent and 8cent liberty stamps on it. |

Could be. At least they were under the same roof at one point! On the subject of other souvenir sheets, what do I do with all of these? At last count I have more than 550 of them! |

Quite frankly, I like souvenir sheets. Of course, it depends on the topic/design. Hmmm... you have me thinking... perhaps this is a good topic for the TOPICAL section! |
