I was an early user of Stiener pages and they are excellent becuase of the flexibility of printing what one wants. I found that they are useful for the more advanced collecting. They get frustrating if you have 200 or so pages from a country and a whole pile of stamps to put in an album. I found it took too long to look up all the stamps in the catalog to find where they went. I still use his Canada and US pages. Someday I will probably switch over to his pages for the world, especially for more recent stamps. |

How is that any more difficult than using per-printed albums from Scott or Harris? |

Once your stockbook has just basic year placemarks it starts to take shape and becomes easier the more it fills up. During the identifcation process there is nothing to stop you writing your preferred catalogue schema in the spaces. |

TONY-UK........I have seen that method on various types of album pages ,were someone has taken the time to write in the catalog numbers in each space on the album page . But I would suggest what I been doing and that is to use a soft lead pencil and put the catalog numbers in the lower right hand corner of the page to aid in identiciation and any buyer can follow the catalog numbering for value of the page ,I also use the blank spaces around the borders for mounting and identifing variations with the foreign catalog number below the stamp .So if Gibbons has two shades and Scott has one I would place the second stamp as close as possible with the Gibbons number next to it . |

BOBGGGG----nice page ,if we ever get the youth of America back into the hobby .The way would be to start stamp clubs at many of these fast food resturants that are empty after supper each night .A experience collector could print up pages for the kids to sit and mount stamps on right in the resturant and these kids would have face time with other collectors ,much better than just handing packets on Halloween to take home which some clubs do . |

I am a fan of the Steiner pages. I use 65lb cover stock and print the page for whatever stamps I want to mount on an HP inkjet printer. I order several 250 sheet packages at a time from Amazon and stick them in plain white 3-ring binders to save on costs. If I could do it over, I might use slightly thinner paper to save storage space, but the heavy paper has a nice feel. Now that I have a couple shelves of albums printed out the same way, I don't want to introduce a lot of inconsistency by changing paper weights. I collect worldwide so the upfront cost of a set of pre-printed albums would be be ridiculous. Long term, this approach may cost more but I can pay as I go. On the plus side, I have almost no pages without any stamps. On the minus side, I have lots of pages with only one stamp. I'm working on fixing that! |

BOBGGGG----nice set of pages .
MRPRGRMR-----Nice to add your name to this style of collecting . what color and brand of paper are you using .Do you write in the catalog numbers ,if so how .Do you use different size binders for the larger countries ?,The 65lb stock paper would be too heavy and weight would be a factor on the bookselve for me .Has anybody found or tried any of the paper between 24lb and 65lb stock . |

@floortrader I use plain white Wausau brand paper. It is equivalent to the paper I was previously buying at Staples, but significantly cheaper. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0..._i00_detailsI buy 3 packs at a time keep the price over $25 and get free shipping. For the most part, I just use 3" binders for everything, typically with multiple countries per binder. When the binder gets full, I split it at whatever country ends closest to the middle. Currently, I only have enough stamps from a couple countries to put them in their own binder. U.S. stamps currently take up 2 full binders. I use a labelmaker and label each binder with the starting letters of the countries contained in that binder. The labels are removable so I can easily update them when I split a binder. I do write the catalog numbers on the pages. As soon as I print a page, I look up all the stamps in Scott and carefully write the catalog number range in pencil below the heading for each set of stamps. It would be neater to write the catalog numbers in the boxes, so they would be behind the stamps; however, I prefer not to have to disturb the stamps to find the catalog numbers. I also sometimes add additional information about the stamps, in pencil, on the pages themselves. |

I just broke down and got a subscription. I wanted to start collecting Ireland for my wife. I thought it would be cool to collect and then give it to her as a present. She's first generation Irish, and this was way cheaper than any other choices out there.
Now the question is, how fast can I download the whole site? |

It takes forever to download the entire site. If I renew, I'll put out the extra $10.00 for the cd. |
