Its the cost of all the PALO albums, that will restrict most worldwide collectors from buying them ,especially if you understand most of the albums get very little return from the cost when the collection is sold .Why I like the STEINER PAGES is that your not over paying for binders ,they can be purchase at garage sales, flea markets or the local DOLLAR STORES. The most important thing for me is the ability to just re-print a page if I mess it up or tear it or pick up the same stamps with a fancy cancel ,then just add the extra page . |

JOE1225us--------You stated "My issue with Steiner albums is size ! If only they would compress them, by putting twice the amount of stamps on each page!" I have just the opposite view because ,im always mounting extra stamps off in the corners ,many times these are color variations or plate flaws or fancy cancels or S-0-N cancels , all these extra items on the page make for a more interesting collection . ONE OF MY RANTS --------------The reason I add all these so call extras to a album page is simple ------if you ever attended a stamp auction and now on E-BAY if you ever follow sales of stamp collections ,those collections that include all types of different types of stamps will get a much higher price than "just filled the blank space in the album collections" I think every collector should try to add all kinds of esoteric and unusal items to their collection which ends up being described as a sepecialized collection and that means dollars . |

I completely agree that there is very little return on investment when it comes to albums, so if you can get a good looking album for cheap, then that's the way to go.
I personally prefer to have descriptions with the stamps, which is why I went with the Mystic Heirloom album and designed my own Ukrainian album.
But designing your own album is work. Having designed pages from 1992 through 1997 with descriptions, its a lot of work. It would be a lot easier to just give Bill Steiner $30 and be done with it. |

STAMPVIRGIN -----Here are two minor corrections ,that can be fixed ---------both in FINLAND .------The semi-postal page of 1957 says "animals 1957" and below that is "red cross and aninals 1957" it should resd "red cross 1957" there are no animals pictured on the 3 stamps of the flag . On the page which has the 1979 EUROPA ,two stamps ,the lay out of the frames around the stamps is backwards .The taller stamp is the 1.10 and the longer stamp is the 1.30 stamp .Switch the sizes around on the two stamps . If you need a scan let me know if I did not explain it right to you but let me say --------THEY DID A GREAT JOB and im a happy customer of STEINER pages ..... |

I have the steiner pages. The value to me is that even though I do not collect world-wide, at times I do get a some issues or a set from a country which I do want to keep. I can simply print just the page(s) I want. For the United States, I purchased the Mystic for ~$38.00 wich is in 3 albums, and the 3 3-ring binders are included. That is a real bargain since you don't have the added expense of card stock or paper, and ink. Plus they spaces are illustrated. For that price, you could by two sets - one for mint and one for used! |

Steiner does update his pages. If you think there is an error, then check the site to make sure a new version isn't up on his site. |

The pages do get corrected if you send off an email.
When I was a kid I saved up and bought a Scott Traveller. It now sits mostly ignored and unloved in the bottom of some closet. The first thing I remember when I got it home is that I already had a ton of stuff which didnt fit into the album and most of the album was filled with pages and pages of stamps I'd never be interested in collecting.
Printable pages are the way to go. I bought the Steiner CD. For 30 bucks...for me it was a no-brainer.
BTW I like to print them onto 32 pound 100% cotton bond. I like the ivory (color) better than the stark white. They look great.

First ------I guess I should get a more current copy of his CD ,to make pages with ,mine is about 2 or 3 years old . PETERC4------your right ,its the way to go ,especially if you struggled for years with other company pages and binders and trying to fit it all in the way you want . BOBGGGG-----If Bill Steiner comes on here the one thing im going to ask for is a more detailed program for making individual pages ,what he has is fine but would like pages were a explantion can be typed in under the mounting of each stamp ,right now he has one or four lines at the top of the page and a page for a large explaination right at the top of the page . So a page sectioned into four parts with a explaination under the stamp would help or even a lay-out of six or eight stamps with a two line explation would be ideal per page . |

I agree, floortrader. It would be nice if the pages were modifiable. But, I do understand that in doing so, someone would make minor changes and sell as their own. |

If you own Adobe Acrobat, you could make some modifications to the pages. Your other option is to use the back of the previous page for descriptions, the way Mystic does. |

I was an early user of Stiener pages and they are excellent becuase of the flexibility of printing what one wants. I found that they are useful for the more advanced collecting. They get frustrating if you have 200 or so pages from a country and a whole pile of stamps to put in an album. I found it took too long to look up all the stamps in the catalog to find where they went. I still use his Canada and US pages. Someday I will probably switch over to his pages for the world, especially for more recent stamps. |
