Well, I have been chasing the dragon all afternoon with these Washington/Franklin issues and I think I have here a #460 with an image of the face on the back in reverse. Is this a very common occurence you think? Also can you take a stab an ID? Perf 10 has a watermark (but I can't quite make it out that clearly)

Obverse:

Transfer from other stamp under it. Look at the reverse lettering showing it was lifted.

Hi ILS. What you have there is ink transfer from another stamp. They where stacked while still wet. The image on the back of you stamp is in reverse.

-edit - if I hadn't stopped to correct my spelling, I'd have beaten 1775mac to it. Curses!

It's a gorgeous transfer, I'd definitely hang on to that one.

chasa your right.... my bad. I was just checking the perforations on a hundred stamps and thought that was the last one I done (which was a perf 10) I apologize.

Thank you. I thought it the ink transfer was cool but I just never seen one that bold before.

never heard of an ink transfer! Does that happen often and does it increase the value of the stamp?

On US Flat plate printed stamps it almost always happens to a slight degree, usually just a few specs of color. In fact that is the easiest way to distinguish flat plate prints from rotary press is you don't have a perf gauge handy or you are in a hurry :)
More complete offsets are less common, but I have never heard of a serious collector paying any more, or any less whrn it occurs.
