Thanks Otto- I was always a look at pictures rather than read person so that was helpful. I've heard the terms cut top and bottom before and assumed it was where the stamp was physically cut. Thought incomplete ornaments and such were poor plate positioning and transfer problems rather than what was supposed to be there.
