In a staggered set of German Famous women
I keep my stamps in sets
so have this as a 1986 type
but official German Cataloguing may have it different.

Hi Rodney and donnasue,

This name meant nothing to me but thanks to good old Wikipedia I see she is the composer that I know of as Fanny Mendelssohn.

This stamp was issued at 10 August 1994, in the definite series 'Women in German history'. Valued in my somewhat aged Michel (2006) is EUR 1,50 for a used stamp.

It's also Scott #1493A (priced at 65c in the 2009 edition of Scott) and SG 2167 (priced at £1.80 in the 2011 SG Part 7).

According to both Scott and SG it was issued in 10th August 1989.

Not quite the full set, as there were 39 different women on the stamps:

The 150pf issue stands out for me,
such bravery from a young 22yo lass was extraordinary.

You're right 22crows, I forgot the 4 stamps in euro denomination.

@rod, couldn't agree more!
