As my New Years ebay purchases continue to roll - here are a few Airmail covers that I picked up for around a dollar.

I'll start with, what's in my opinion, the most interesting cover. Features a C7 as well as a C21 on cover to Belgium postmarked 10 Nov 1939. As those of you who are familiar with the Second World War will know, by Nov 1939, both Britain and France had declared war on Germany, which had already claimed Czechoslovakia and parts of Poland as its own. Certainly the mood in Belgium at the time, which had been ravaged by Germany in WWI as the Germans sought to outflank the French, was certain conflict. Indeed, six months after this letter was posted, Belgium would again be occupied by Germany.

Also arriving in the mail are two C24 covers - both addressed to the same London Philatelic Department. I assume the extra three cent postage was in reciprocation to some previous favor. Personally I enjoy the Church St. postmark as its located in a part of Manhattan that I'm very familiar with (adjacent to the former site of the WTC). Unfortunately, no interesting back-stamps on any of the covers.
