I have heard of tin can mail, but I have never known anyone to have a cover. Those are so cool. I am drooling. One day I will have a painted coconut mailed to me from Hawaii, not quite the same but interesting none the less.

and thanks....glad you're enjoying this. I think I paid $18-20.00 several years ago for this one. I've seen some priced from as little as $5.00 to $250.00 for some of the oldest ones in really nice condition

A great piece of postal history. I'd heard of tin can mail but this is the first time I have seen both sides, from a fellow collector. Thanks for the link to the story behind the cover.
