I like to digitilise most of my info,
I have made my first PDF book by scanning
this months cinderella journal (24 pages)
and making a *.pdf file.

Trouble is, my 24 page *pdf came out at 102Mb
when a 20 page full colour pdf of a local container
supplier comes in at just over 1Mb.

What am I doing wrong?

I downloaded, Virus checked and installed "dopdf"

Thanks for any advice.

Rod,

It might to do with the dpi definition of your file. The 20 pages might be drfined as 72dpi which is great for a computer screen and your own file may be defined with higher resolution.

Just a thought...

Rod - sounds like your "images" need to be "compressed down" - if you have a look at the "size" of each individual scan this will give you an idea etc

I would suspect it's partly a function of your 600 dpi (or is it now 1200?) scans. If you want smaller files, I think you'll probably need to compromise on image resolution.

You can save considerably on file size by scanning only the images and not the entire page including text. Scanned text is represented as an image file, and it will take up much more memory than text entered via a word processor or spreadsheet, which is reproduced via the same methods as a True Type font.

Thank you gentlemen.
Appreciate comments, after your advice
I saw I had "high resolution images" selected in the printer
I selected "small images" which broke it down to 16Mb
still too high.
I had been scanning the A4 pages at 200dpi
I may have to drop that to 100dpi
I'll try some settins to see how we go.

I may ditch it all though, am rather interested
in "searchable *.pdf"
which the vast array of philately really demands.
