As most of you will know, the cost of US Postage Stamps are going up on January 22, 2012 (this coming Sunday) from 44 cents to 45 cents for first class mail.
Although it works out well for people with "Forever" stamps already in their possession (i.e. it will pay the increased 45 cent first ounce rate), it also works to your disadvantage should you be planning on purchasing any older "Forever" stamps either from your local post office or from the USPS Stamp Fulfillment Services in Kansas City.
If you buy "Forever" stamps (or place an order) this week, the cost will be 44 cents; if you wait and buy them next week the cost will increase to 45 cents.
I also understand that concurrent with the postage rate increase, is a 50 cent increase in the $1 handling charge levied by SFS, so after January 22, 2012, there will be a $1.50 handling charge for any orders.
While this is probably not going to break the bank for anyone, you do stand to save a little bit by ordering now rather than later.
