I went to the PO to drop some bills in the outgoing box and visit with the postmaster.

I still have a roll of the 44˘ Flags, so all my envelopes had the Flag and a 1˘ Tiffany Lamp on them.

I consider myself patriotic, but I don't really care for the s/a Flags. But I have a whole roll and I was hoping to use them all before the rate increase. Didn't quite make it -- I still have half a roll

Upon visiting my post office yesterday (01/23/2012), the clerk informed me they have absolutely NO ONE CENT STAMPS AT ALL. The backorder hasn't yet arrived. So anyone with a denominated stamp that needs the extra $0.01 added, will have to do so via a meter imprint.

While all the first class letter rates went up a trival amount, check out how much the International package/packet rates went up.

4oz. to Canada was $2.50 US is now $3.45 US.
4oz. to UK/Europe was $4.33 is now $5.34 US.

Any shipment you send from the U.S. that has rigid stiffener cards that's greater than 3.5 oz. and/or thicker than 3/4" is automatically packet/package rate.

For those who sell on ebay, that's just more money for ebay given the fact they take 9% of shipping.

The US still holds claim to being the best bargain in the free world in terms of postal rates.
