I find I get the best results if you have a low starting bid like 1 cents. You will get more people interested in watching and people will place a bid . I sell a lot at a low starting bid some times I might only have one bid all week long but on the day of the auction they come out of the woodwork. Give it a try what you got to lose.

Nitro, the top right stamp of your 6 stamps is not a #65. It has a grill.

Or even a $1 start bid I have been thinking of doing that, but if I list for 1 cent and it only gets one bidder, that is a worry. I think I need more customers first before I list that low.

Hi Irishjack ok I am going to trial a low $1 start on an item and see how many bidders go for it, typically the item is selling for over 10 bucks with other sellers. Here is the link so you can watch it

but because it is on a Civil War Cover so those cover collectors would want it for the postal history

Clarification. It's not a Civil War cover, it's a Civil War era cover. The items with the bigger CV from that era are Patriotic Covers, these are the ones that are in high demand and bring in the higher prices. Although the catalog value on cover is $3, I think $5 was fair as the Stamp condition itself should carry a little premium as It almost passes for XF. Hopefully someone that knows more about grading will chime in.

Stallzer - I'm no grading expert but XF looks right to me. Centering is awesome and even if color is rose it is a bright beautiful example. Odds are bids will get over $10 just on potential of color variety .
Still am interested in the line on the S - This must be a plate change but with all I've read on here regarding these 3 centers I'be never heard anything about that spot---- anyone chime in-- Russ, Otto, Art , SEal where are you guys.

Hi folks I hope it goes for abt ten bucks or more. There are 3 people watching it already, so give it another day or so before the first bid. I think these kind of covers where they have a great xf stamp on it, even used is a good market to get in. I'm going to keep my eye out for others in lots. I have a few other covers I listed in my store, not as old as this but they all have several watching and 3 have bids. A lot of interest in this early US material.

Being a WI cover doesn't hurt either. Wisconsin was pretty sparse in the 1860s.

well there are now lots of people watching the cover in my ebay store, and a couple of bidders, so I am hoping for a bidding war in the last 24 hours of its auction, will be interesting to see what it goes for.

I sure am, if I can get that much for all my sales I'd be happy. The buyer seems very pleased to!

Hard to tell the true date. IF it's that late in '62, chances are that it's not pink or rose pink. Remember that the pinks were the first 3c 1861's printed-- August - September or a little later in 1861.

There were colors in '62 and '63 known as "Brooklyn Pink", which are not pink or rose pink, but are actually pinkish rose....more rose than pink. These are all #65, not 64b or 64.

Still, it's a really pretty stamp, and the centering is outrageous! Nice cover and nice sale.........Ray
