Are Older Company Covers In High Demand?

I'm new to this site, as well as to the philatelics community. I have a few questions. My collection consists of many covers such as Richfield Oil Corporation, which is Arco Gas, Marshall Field and Company, which is Macy's Dept. Store and Mexican Seaboard Inc., which is Texaco Gas and Bankamerica, which is Bank of America etc. I dont know if their are collectors looking for these types of covers. I haven't seen anything that looks similar in delcampe or ebay. any suggestions on how I should go about selling these items?

Spades928 welcome and a great question that you have that comes up quite often. The very first suggestion usually is to have someone help you identify if there is something of value. Get to a stamp club; find a friend that collects. Somehow get a grip on what you have either with the stamps or the covers. You can certainly show us some scans of your stamps and we will be glad to chime in with what we think they are worth. Work up to 50 posts here and then maybe someone will be happy to buy them and take them off your hands, but identify first. Get someone to help you see what you have. again WELCOME! - Jeff

Sounds like you have a bit of history there and stamp colelctors usually like stuff with history.

Start a topic on the main forum where lots of people can see your stuff and scans or photos will help immensely in determining what you have is so-so or really nice.

Condition is all important (usually) in stamps and covers (envelopes).

As for selling, the more you know about the stuff you want to sell the better off you will be in knowing how to sell it and what to say to attract the people who would be interested in it.

It may be specialized and not seen very often on ebay or Delcampe or elsewhere or it may be somewhat common and you just didn't know what to search for or know how it was usually sold.

Lots of variables.

Another thought, older means different things to different people, especially in stamp collecting.

100 years isn't too old. Pre-1900 is old. Pre-1940 is where a lot of collectors collect because the new stamps in the 1950's and beyond are so plentiful and common usually that they are almost worthless and so usually have to have something special about them (like being on a special type of cover or have special postal markings etc) that makes them more desirable.

OR be of a topic that interest people enough that they would like to collect. Like cats, dogs, planes, trains, bridges, old buildings, old companies, personalities, covers addressed to personalities, etc if you get my drift.
