Newbie Here !

Hi all..

I just came across quite a few older stamp.. Most are not anything all that special.. Although there are about 100 real nice quality Washington, and Franklin 1 and 2 cent stamps.

I am doing my best to research on my own before posting questions so as not to just join up expecting others to do my footwork for me, but am hoping for some help so as to be absolutely sure when labeling each stamp.

I do have other collecting/hobby intersts, and have a lot of fun sharing and learning with others on those related forums..

Looking forward to learning and sharing here as well.. :)

Side note:

I went to your web site and a little info I found in my mineralogy book. Your Ferro Actinolite is Ca2(Mg,Fe)5Si8O22(OH)2, as far as I can see no nickel (Ni). Wikipedia states, it was once mined in Jones Creek Gundagai Australia, Taiwan, Canada, Madagascar, Tanzania, and the United States.

Most forums will have a "quote" tab so as to reply to a specific persons reply..

I am not seeing it ????

Not sure? I still can't figure out how to even enter my birthday. Cant find the Icon to do it?


But first, you as I was doing, try entering your replies via {Reply to topic} not the {Quick reply}. I don't think you get post credits for it.


With that you can get your number of post to climb. so far you have 0(zero). You need 50 post and 14 days to open some doors, like emailing, buying, trading and selling.

Then there is the buddy icon on the post time line, forth one out. It has been at first a little of a struggle to find things. but once to do it is a snap. The people here are the greatest I have seen to date. They are the friendliest, helpful, and all around great bunch. And 50 post well I never though I would get there now I am look for 100, then 1,000.

Did that help on the "quote reply" or did I miss the mark?

Oh ya watch your upload size, 100K goes fast on a JPEG.

George, Tom, you can quote like this:

• Select and copy the text that you want to quote from the previous post (or any other source text, does not have to be from a post)
• Go to a new topic reply
• Click the Insert Quote button in the Format toolbar above the post
• Paste the copied text inbetween the quote tags

You can also do that the other way around:

• Paste the text that you copied straight into the new reply
• Select it
• Click the Insert Quote button

Use the Preview button to check if it looks right before posting.

P.S. Posts in the Intro forum don't count towards your posting total. In the stamp forums, I'm pretty sure quick replies do count - will test that.

Edit: tested - quick replies in the stamp forums count towards your post count.

any hints on the birthday icon

Details on entering your birthday can be found in the Stamp Community Support forum - you'll find that in the Support and Testing Area at the bottom of the main forum page (click the Forum Home button at the top of the page).

There are some sticky posts there, which provide great information about posting on SCF doing admin stuff with your profile, and you can post to that forum to request an avatar from the Admins.

Been there and did what they said but there is no birthday Icon. Others seem to have had the same problem.

Oh right, yep, seems like that step is broken. I never tried to do that anyway. Maybe the feature is no longer available for us noobs. Personally, I prefer my birthdays to be quiet :)
