Hi, Was curious to know if the is a rarity. This block of 4 C3's has what appears to me to be 2 coil lines. Would this be called center line block? Sorry, wanted to add; there is evidence of a previous hinge. Thank you again!

eaglebub7, Welcome to SCF! If you crop all of that white space you'll be able to post larger images of you stamps. It appears that you do have a center line block. Steve |

Gorgeous centerline block! Scott lists this at $350 in VF/hinged. This represents a 25% increase in value over four single stamps (If it were Never-Hinged, it would be worth $750). Your block is close enough to VF to definitively state it's value at full catalogue. At auction, I would expect it to bring $250.
As for it being a rarity? This may be an issue of semantics, but It would be classified as "uncommon", not "rare".
Still, you have a great (and valuable) block that is missing from a lot of collections! (mine included. I have mint and used blocks of C1 to C6, minus C3).
Congrats!

Wow, nice feedback from the group. Sorry to hear you are missing the C3. I also have a C3 block of 12 with double plate numbers, 2 "TOP" and the arrow. If I can scan it to post in a good size I will post for you. |

That's fantastic, Eaglebub! Your inheritance is highly unusual in that it contains actual value. Most collections we see posted here contain common stamps with little to no value. I'm delighted to see that trend come to an end! As for the Block of 12? You don't see them that often. I can't wait to see more of your collection! Here's one on ebay right now (and at an amazing price in my opinion) http://www.ebay.com/itm/U-S-C3-CHOI...em53eb64e988 |

Rileysan, yes, from the little research I have done to date, there is value to this collection. I did meet with a local stamp dealer and he stated it was a decent collection. He however deals mostly with stamps outside the US collection and recommended I take it to a local stamp show for better feedback. This collection has all the Jennies, blocks and singles as well as Graf Zepplins. Will be posting some other item here also from the booklet collection, just going to take some time. |

Cardinal Bass gives his seal of approval! I would like it more if it was in my collection, but seems as how that won't happen, very nice none-the-less. I also agree that the center line is a good find. Regardless of the light hinge, it's a keeper. Throw it in a mount and sit back and smile! |
