I know I keep saying I don't collect first day covers, but these just caught my attention. Never say never, I guess.

This first one from Iceland from 1960 intrigued me with the cachet by Jean Cocteau.

This second one from France is in kind of rough shape, but again the cancel grabbed me.
It's listed as a 'First Day Cover' in the top left corner. Scott's lists this stamp as being issued in April of 1935, but the May 29, 1935 cancel actually commemorates the inaugural voyage of the Normandie, which is pictured on the stamp.
A little nautical topical.

Those are two striking covers, both for varying reasons.

I haven't seen that octagonal and continuous cancel from France before now either.

Delcampe has covers listed using the same Cocteau refugee cachet with stamps from Portugal (pictured) and the Vatican.

Great covers jamesw

I particularly like the inaugural "Normandie" cover with the TPO cancellation.
