Thank you Bayern (I have a fascination with Bavaria mill wheel cancels).

Do you happen to know when this series of stamps was issued? I looked for the bird stamp and could not find it on the Bird Stamps org site.

Actually, I think this is 'Peiho', not Taipei. The characters for 'ho' and 'tai' are similar, but in the blown-up version, they seem quite clear.

Thank you all.

The 'Dragons Circling Two Carps' is a 1997 stamp, one of a 4 stamp series.

At first I read the cancel's date as 1988, April 17 at 18 (hundred hours - 6:00 PM) but I am not at all sure on Taiwan dates.

edit: It must be 1998 at least to allow for the use of these stamps though. Mistaken use of the wrong year date plug in the cancel possibly.
Still looking for the drawings.

Other stamps are from different sets of the Ancient Engravings stamps issued over a few years I think, from at least 1995 to 2000.

Ah, looking through Delcampe, the 1.00, and 20.00 and from 1996, being plants, and the 7.00 bird is from 1995. No mention anywhere I looked so far as to which birds they are, four in the set that year.

Nice little stamps to keep one's interest in collecting this country over the years.

Puzzler, the actual year in the date is 1999 CE. Taiwan measures years from the 1911 revolution that overthrew the Ching/Qing Dynesty.
