Hi,
Here I am again. Ran across a set of 12 Proofs as my relative has stated on top with the old letter setting tape. There are 12 total that I tried to post but was getting upload errors so I reduced the number scanned. Most of these are black to grey in color. One has a tinge of violet/purple. Does anyone here know if they are in the catalog anywhere.

Wanted to add, some of these feel like they are on standard paper, others feel like they are on "card stock", similar to baseball card thickness.

Thank you for any feedback.

They are in Scotts specialized, back of book, under Die Proofs. Are they on a thin paper or thicker card ?

Thanks stallzer, I did look for them in Die and Plate Proofs section BoB but can not find them to match the color stated. The series as they are set on the page are PR16 through PR 27 and match to the corresponding denominations. Most are gray black to black, one is a pale violet/purple black. The material ranges from thin paper to card stock, like baseball card thickness.

They are actual proofs on card most likely. They could be progressive die proofs too or color trials if color doesn't correspond.

These are definitely card proofs. You'll find them listed in the Scott U.S. Specialized Catalog under Proofs. These are the type 4 (or P4 proofs). They were printed in a couple of instances in the late 19th century/early 20th century and could be obtained from the USPOD.

The ones you have showing are two of the low values of the Newspaper and Periodicals stamps, PR32-79, most likely. The lowest values are black; the mid values are carmine or rose while the higher values are all individual colors.
