'Morning all. Does anyone know what this type of U.S. cancel is called. Long wavy lines with the name of the city. Also is it a hand cancel or machine?
Thankyou gentlemen. As I'm mounting my cover collection in the album I'm trying to learn about the types of cancels and give each cover a comprehensive description. Turning from collector to philatelist.
Somebody recently posted a youtube film on SCF in it, there was a postal clerk happily roller cancelling mail, I thought I would mention it, but then thought, nah! that's boring :)
Several images lately on this forum of hand stamps and cancel 'machines' make me want to start collecting those too. Don't you people know I'm weak? Someone save me from myself!
