I need help to identify this 1966 Roosevelt FDC. I cannot locate it anywhere on the the internet and its driving me crazy. I believe the answer is in the anchor marking. The back of the cover is blank. There is a watermark which ends in BOND and any help would be greatly appreciated.

I agree that there seems to be little information on the internet about this cover, however, I can give you some basic information:

The first day cover is for the FDR Stamp (Scott #1284) and is on an "FDC+" cachet. It is listed as Mellone #36 in the First Day Cover catalog of cachetmakers for this issue.

"FDC+" was later referred to as "FDC Plus" and was a cachet made by Joseph B. Kanturek. I do see reference that he made cachets "on an occasional basis" and it would appear that it was generally through the mid 1960s through the early 1970s when his cachets were popular.

Although the cachetmaker is not that common, the catalogs do not seem to suggest that there is any premium value over any other of the many cachets made for this issue.

I can't speak of the "crest" or "coat of arms" shown in your scan and whether it was artistic license on the part of the cachetmaker or if there is some meaning to the crest. I do know that the "three roses" were part of the Roosevelt family coat of arms, and since FDR served as Assistant Secretary of the Navy, perhaps the anchor has some connection with that period in his career.

I hope this helps. I'll be interested to see if anyone else comes up with more information for you.
