Atlantic City, NJ Precancel Type 485 (Wc Or Nc)?

I believe this is an Atlantic City, NJ Precancel Type 485, but there are two known varieties "WC" and "NC". What do they mean? Could it be "wide" versus "narrow" for the letter "C" in "City"? If so, would this be considered the narrow type?

Thanks. I knew the "WC" and "NC" meant something, I was just not sure what.
