OK, from time to time I see these awesome looking essays come up and am super curious as to what exactly these are? They are so incredible as far as design that I have to wonder why they were never issued? An insight would be fantastic! This is not mine but from an online auction. I couldn't begin to tell you if the 1K price tag is even close to correct but the design is so whimsical looking it just may get it.

I have to admit, the workmanship is impressive, and could work as an element of a certificate or currency, but I don't like it as a stamp. Too much design, and Lincoln's portrait seems a bit small for the total image.

Having said that, the image does have a 1960s feel to it...

That is some serious engraving if that is the case- reminds me of my spirograph when I was kid!

I've seen this before, and a number of others like it on SwedishTiger. Pretty impressive work, but, yes, a little busy.
