This beautiful Canadian cover, sent to me by David Giles, would have been a real great addition to my WW cover collection.

Thanks to the Canadian butchers, take a look at the scrapes on the Red Cross stamp, It will go into the soak-er.

Phil..See if you need the 52 cent Life-savings stamp.

David sent me a great cover with dual franking with both Canadian and Newfoundland stamps. The Newfoundland stamp has also gotten butchered during cancelling. They must be pretty rough up north there. Luckily David was nice enough to send another.

In many cases with my mail from David...the stamps come through completely uncancelled..so I send them back for another try ! Bob..i see the stamp now...i do not have it yet..phil

That's why the 4¢ stamp was placed where it was. Both Cdn and American mail handling equipment does that. i've had British letter do the same. I think modern post offices assume that a letter is very thin and they do not compensate for thicker letters.

Too bad, eh?

It looks to me like your guys attended the annual USPS Conference on Philatelic Material Destruction Techniques. It was held in Denver this year.
