A little survey of what members do with their duplicates or low value stamps that don't seem to make it into any other album. Do you use glassines, stock books, stock sheets, display cards etc. Or is it time to sell or donate? It seems for me that cost of storage becomes a concern relative to the stamps themselves. But some out of sight, out of mind solution doesn't seem right either.

Do what feels right, I now donate, I plop them into glassine packets throw 'em in a bucket and give to my local antique shop, "free for kids" or the like.
Nicer ones I send to colleagues free or send them back through the auction process.

My low value duplicates are given to other collectors who need them, donated to stamp clubs or new collectors. I have a lot of old stock books so I keep them there |

So far I have been giving them away or trading with other collectors. I may try my hand at a few Auctions to see if I can save up for some of the more expensive stuff I find myself needing. I keep them in stock books and #2 glassines. Dianne |

I have all these good intentions of redistributing duplicates...but it never seems to happen. In the past they all went into recycled glassines and then into a cigar box, then a shoebox, then another...
Recently I have had good luck keeping my "to be albumed" stamps in cheapo (1$) photo wallets - "one photo per page" booklet sized photo albums. You can see the stamps pretty well, they are easy to flip through, and the pockets work well with a single stamp or 100's of stamps.
I plan on trying these photo wallets out with dupes. Just so I can see what I really have. |

A little here, a little there...
Any stamps that are damaged (thins, tears, missing perfs, heavy cancels) go into an envelope which I periodically will mail to my ex (we're on pretty cordial terms) who's an artist and creates anything from bookmarks to handmade journal covers to art collages with them. It means the beauty of the stamps remains from a visual and attention getting perspective, but they are "out of circulation" from a collecting standpoint.
Sound stamps go into stockbooks; one catalogue number per strip... if I have more than about 12-15 of a stamp, they go into a numbered glassine and ends up filed in one of my "red boxes."

I store them in manila stock sheets.
I give them as bonuses in exchanges I also use them in exchanges when requested.
They are still fun as there is where you will find the most varieties.

Mostly in glassine envelopes according to country; not the most efficient way when you want to check if you have a particular stamp in the catalog. But I'm devoting more time to mounting/hinging my stamps in album pages... more fun me thinks. Regards Ram |

Store in glassines and then I'll usually trade them on Stamp Exchange forum for other stuff. I keep the pre-1930's however. |

I usually put my duplicates in mixed packets and sell them on ebay. Sometimes if I find a few nicer items I'll list them separately, but mostly I don't go through the trouble of sorting and keeping track of everything. I also have another site that I list some stuff on, because it's free, especially smaller lots or singles of stamps that are minimum catalog value, but are nice looking and interesting. |

I agree wit wt1.If few keep in your either stock sheet, Stock book. But greater than 10 duplicates I use Glassine Envelopes. for Sheets have Glassine Paper book custom made each 96 Pages can house individual sheet. I started arranging recently. Still am dealing with Stamps of India, have not yet touched USA,Canda and UNO. Yeh it is hard work. |
