I was going thru old stuff looking for stamps to cut off of envelopes and came across this presorted cover from the American Kennel Club to me that I noticed had 4 cancels on it. Isn't this
unusual?? All four cancels were received in Raleigh, NC.
Front side with 3 cancels:

Back side with a cancel also:

Thanks!

Sometimes when letters go through cancelling machine they pick up a cancel on the reverse side, from where the canceller hit the back plate of the machine earlier with no letter there, think this maybe the case with your letter on the reverse side

It is an interesting cover.

It has one cancel and three meters. The first meter dated Nov 4th was for 23c.
Perhaps there was insufficent postage because the second meter on Nov 5th represents an additional 5c.
The Nov 5th meter on the back is for 0c, which is really just a datestamp.

Metered mail is not supposed to be canceled, but sometimes it does get mixed in with the stamped mail and receives a cancel.

Thanks for posting it!

Hey Jake, if that cover had picked up the Meter on the back from the back plate on the machine wouldn't it be printed "sdrawkcab" instead of forwards like it is????? I think it would so there for I have a slight inkling that it may have been intentionally done but yet even more puzzling is the fact that it is for $0.00. This is a cover to make you go......HMMMMMMMMM!

Thanks guys! It caught my eye as I was going thru old bills and stuff--didn't know whether to keep it or throw it away, but I thought it was interesting and confusing.
Thanks!
