Dennis Bushyhead was the Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation from 1879–1887. This 1880 cover is postmarked Flint, Cherokee Nation
and addressed to Chief Bushyhead at Fort Gibson, C.N. (Cherokee Nation).

Nice piece of history, especially that the address recognized the nation and did not specify a state in which to deliver.

I wonder if the Oneida Nation in our area has a New York address with a federal zip code?

They're holding a PGA Tournament again, this fall, but the State continues to refuse to give them a liquor license. And they are a nation!

Bet you thought in this world it was only places like Russia trying to put the squeeze on Georgia.

My Introduction mentioned I was interested in USPOD forms and documents. Here is a standard form that was used advise one Charles la Flore that he had been appointed Postmaster at the post office at Limestone Gap, Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory, in 1882. Corrected in pencil to Chocktaw Nation. I don't know which is correct and/or when pencil note was added.

Wow that is a spectacular piece!

I found this picture of Charles LaFlore's house in the book
"Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma" by Donovin Arleigh Sprague.
