Looking at my 2006 SC I saw that specific plate numbers in used condition are valued at $2-3 for presorts similar to these (but you have to check for certain die cut perforations.)
Not a bad value for a used stamp!

Gussy, thanks for making us aware of the worth of plate numbers on these and other stamps. I have a several pounds of such common, recent issues from box lots purchased a few years ago. Now I will certainly go through them before placing them on ebay! Hope they weren't already picked.

I really like that series of presorts. They tie in well with my route 66 themed collection. Especially, during the highway's heydays in the 50's and 60's. You know before I was born. Sorry I couldn't help myself.

I will have to see if I have any plate numbers on mine and check the perfs.

The "auto tail" presort similar to the above stamp SC#2908 with Perf 9.8 vertical and plate# 11111 (USED) brings a value of $2.00 according to my 2006 SC.
With this design there are several varieties. #2908 has darker, bold colors with heavy shading lines and chrome is heavily shaded.
SC#2909 with this design has shinier chrome and the colors are more subdued with finer details. Plate# S11111 single USED carries a value of $1.75 (SC 2006).
SC#2910 Serpentine Die cut 11.5 vertical values at $1.75 (also 2006 SC value).

Happy hunting!

Good show, Gussy!

This is a good example of why we should take the time to read about, and STUDY our stamps.

I have received so much campaign stuff both Democratic and Replublican--it isn't funny--I was throwing
it away at first and just cutting the presort stamps off, but then got to thinking about it being a piece of history and saved a few.
