The cover below is one of my prized possessions because it is to my great grandmother from my great grandfather before they were married (my other hobby is genealogy). I know that stamps could be placed on the envelope in different ways to convey a message. Is this one of those covers that conveys a message with a stamp?

Here's an image of an old postcard that explains the positions. This card has been shown on the site a number of times.

So it looks like it says I love you or I am true to you. Cool! Thanks for the info.

Just bear in mind that several countries came out with postcards showing similar stamp representations but with different meanings. Here's another example:

Years ago, I found a book that told where to position a stamp so as to get it "socked on the nose". I actually sent some covers to myself, and sure enough, the stamps were all SOTN. Unfortunately, I forgot what the measurements were, and I couldn't find the book at the library the last time I visited.

Anybody remember the measurements?

That was in the day of the old machine cancel postmarks. The measurements are meaningless today with the spray-on cancels having taken over.
