I'd like further opinions on this auction for an unidentified "10c Washington".

The stamp is unused, no gum, and looks like a #4, in my opinion.

Before I bid any higher, would anyone else like to chime in? Is my assessment correct or am I stupid for bidding?

Thanks!

Brian

Brian,
I would agree with your assessment. The Swedish Tiger is always helpful for me on these old issues. The cravat seems to indicate a #4.

Experienced stamps need a home too. I'd rather have an example that is imperfect than no example.

I looked at the site under US, and there was another nice auction, the 2nd listed, US 1851-1879. There is a nice #25 in there-- can't see it well enough to know if it's sound or not, but nice centering, and so far, reasonable on the price of the auction.

Thanks for sharing, Ray
