I always liked this one. The inscription says, "This letter was delayed for one year because of difficulties in transportation at Little America, Antarctica." On the back is a postmark that it arrived in San Francisco on March 25th, 1935. Probably not much value, but I certainly hope that the rent check was not inside ...

I really like this cover it is a beauty. Although, I do have a real interest in Antarctica and the Antarctic Exploration.

I do have a question about this cover, Does it have the senders details on the back?

Sorry Roos. It only has the San Francisco Postmark (March 25, 1935) and "Little America Mail Received". I like it for the family link since it was addressed to/by Great Grandpa.

This is a scan of my cover from my Polar Mail collection. I have scanned both the front and back.

As far as I know, any covers with this 'one year delay' marking, were all treated the same way with the receiver marking on the back with the "Little America" marking to all those parties interested in the current expedition in the Antarctic at the time, and, wanting covers from it (?)

Hi Bujutsu. It's funny, but I posted a fire-damaged letter, and a poster said that they lived close by the actual town. In your case, I taught a class at Elmhurst College. Small world.

I think the internet has made it even smaller
