Hello all,

I originally posted this one in another thread, but wanted to see if I had the id correct and what everyone thought of the broken "T" in cents on this one.

I first considered this a 94 but I think I had this wrong and this one is actually a 94a. Any confirmation on this?

And I really would like to get a better idea on the "T" as it does appear broken to me and an issue with the plate rather than being a freak, but I have been wrong before.

Hi Sirrus. I can't really confirm or deny the broken "T", but I did want to include a variety that I have seen. It is probably more common than I think, but I can distinctly see "THREB" rather than "THREE".

Hello Partime,

And welcome to SCF. You will love it here and on the bad side be losing lots of hours of the day reading, searching, and learning. Some very smart and helpful folks are the backbone of this family. Okay not a bad thing really, but man oh man I almost spend more time on here than with the stamps lately.

I guess we will wait and see if anyone has any ideas on this one. I really like that one you have shown. EFOs and plate issues have always interested me, but I have so much to learn about them.

Not an expert in US but I sure do like em. Sometimes there is a thicg called dry inking or lifting- basically caused when the ink is to tacky to stick in all the right places, however when this happens it is usually more evident and in more than 1 location. Plus it would normally show on lower parts of the plate not the raised parts like the numbers letters and images. This does look like a plate issue rather than just a freak, The "THREB" could be explained by plate wear since so many of these beauties were made. Hope thats a little helpful and one of our US guru's can chime in.

Nitrolures, thank you so much for the opinions. I sure do appreciate them and hopefully someone who knows a lot more than I do will stop by and either confirm your ideas, or tell us what we have here.
