OK, let's just skip numbers 10 to 2 and go right to my number one paranoia.

"Hey thanks for the package of free stamps you sent me - turns out there was an upside down airplane in the package that was really valuable."

Feel free to add to the list.

"How many stamps do you have in your collection? " is always a favorite of mine. I guess if I answer half a million, it somehow makes me better than the guy who only has 20.

or

"Do people still do that?" is another one I hear alot. As if American Idol, and Playstation have somehow made Philately obsolete.

Not a funny one, still a phrase I hear a lot and learned to dread:

"I have a huge stamps collection, some of them are very old and valuable. Could you estimate them for me?"

If they are so valuable why do I need to estimate them?

Needless to say 100% of the collections which are described this way worth much less than the stockbooks they are kept in...

Maiden yours sounds like my house -- My two little rats (I mean dogs) have aquired a taste for unopened purchases of stamps of online auctions. Thank goodness no heavy losses to date. They don't realise what thin ice theyre skating on.

And a true story : An Ex Girlfriend - My friends are property developers and found a few sackfuls of stamps in the attic should I ask them for you.... a few anticipated weeks later.... "I am sorry I didnt ask them in time - they threw them away!." Hence the EX part of the store.

The Mrs tells me

By the way, I used that coil of 100 stamps to mail out the Christmas Cards.

How come the stripes were missing on the flag ?

Always my nightmare..

In a unanimous vote at the UN, all member nations have decided to cease production of postage stamps. All postal materials will have RFIDs from here on.

Cheers
