Hello all, I purchased these Chinese Cultural Revolution Stamp Exhibition sheets today at a flea market for four dollars each. I purchased four in total, which was all of them he had. Can anybody tell me any information or history about these Stamps. Also, I would really like to know the value. Thanks everyone.

Here are the photos

The inscriptions across the tops of the sheets read 'In commemoration of the centenary of the birth of Mao Tse Tung' and the date. I'd need a clearer close-up of the bottom lines to make them out - but perhaps other members with better eyesight can read them.

Like Tony, I can't make out the bottom lines, so I can't give you specifics.

But in general, these are cinderellas (notice there are no denominations/inscriptions on the stamps) produced either by the stamp printers or commissioned by China Post. They are distributed to selected collectors/subscribers, or if you happen to be at the right place at the right time. Sometimes they commemorate a specific stamp, sometimes an artist, sometimes the printer, sometimes a stamp exhibition... There is a good variety of them out there, and they are popular with some collectors.

Some can be crude (notice the sub-par perforations in your examples), and I wouldn't be surprised if some outright counterfeits exist, given the current China market. I haven't seen the specific ones shown in your pics, so thanks for posting them!

Anything with links to the Cultural Revolution seems to be enjoying a perverse popularity. I'd approach such material with caution. Like khj, I wouldn't be surprised to find such artefacts had been forged - or fabricated out of thin air, for that matter.
