An Australian issue of queen 1953 stamp from my collection with verticl print which I have not been able to undrestand

. Wondering if it is overprint ,post mark or pre cancel.

The vertical print is probably part of the cancel. I'm sure those aussies will awakening soon to give you a better Idea. When I get home from work I can ID the stamp for you.

Picture turned and lightened up a bit to make for better reading.



My first thought is that it is part of a slogan cancel of some sort.

It does not look to be any kind of easily recognizable overprint of any sort. Too many different and varying letters and numbers spread about to make sense.

More likely the under-inking of a cancel.

Fairly common cancellation around this era, I'm not too sure how its produced as I have not seen it on cover, I will continue to look and sure we will solve the puzzle. It appears more what I refer to as a roller cancel.

Looks like a bad cancel to me, roller, I guess.
