Recently joined this forum and have found so valuable to communicate with fellow collectors. Just wondering if there is any interest to start a thread about Australian pre decimal FDC's? This area is of major interest to me, I would love to discuss and find others with this collecting interest. I'm sure there are many items of interest that have found their way to all parts of the World - Love to hear from you.

I have a few, will scan them tomorrow. I don't collect first day covers, but if I run across any I add them to my collection of pre decimal stamps. Have been collecting Australia for about 5 years now. |

That would be great moldman, having completed my Australian collection some years ago, I moved onto First day covers which is an exciting topic, maybe can help fill your gaps one day. Good to hear from you. |

Thanks moldman, the second cover I posted the South Australian Cent was made by the same person who set up the WSC (Wesley cover service) and you will note your flower covers have the emblem which makes them easy to identify. KGVI and Queen Elizabeth are ("Haslem Covers") always sought after, Had me looking at mine, for the first time noticed a Field Post Office PMK on one of mine. Then we have the 1950 Centenary Cover a "Wide World Cover". There are so many cover makers in the earlier years, later the Post Office produced covers appeared, many of the early cover makers had a relative short period of existence, and are rare due to low production numbers. It is a fascinating collecting interest.
Thank you for showing me your covers, how complete is your Australian collection? |

Yes moldman, another passion of mine, you will no doubt read the KGV collector's thread on KGV sideface explained, there are some fascinating varieties I learning all the time. Sounds like you have a nice collection! Share some of your finds or ask questions on the KGV thread there are some keen collectors on there. |

Hello All, We don't collect used/covers of Australia but we do have a bunch in a box gathered over the years. Here are a couple of examples. Cheers Ron and Eunice. |

Thanks for your contribution, these are nice clean covers. The first cover - Royal Visit is a "Royal Cover" this brand of cover maker has had a long period of FDC production. The 2nd cover is a "Wide World Brand" which stopped production of covers around 1957. I will try and identify any covers posted to help new collectors |

Many thanks for that information, I had no idea of the background to them, and all information is useful to go with the covers. I will have to see if there are any others that may be of a 'specific' brand. If so I will post them up. It's great that the information is shared in this way.
Cheers Ron. |
