I thought this one was kind of cool. I have not seen it before and I am not sure if it is a precancel or box cancel. Maybe someone can help me out. But I thought Fort Smith, Arkansas was neat either way. Thanks as always - Jeff

Here are some Fort Smith's on postage dues... I would love to find the 1/2 cent of that series... |

These album pages were made with an unreleased, beta version of Ralph Kimball's database program for the Hoover 1940 black book catalog. This should be generally available within a year or so and will contain all the entries in the 1940 Hoover book - with the terrific album-maker facility.
The El Dorado AR is now known as a fake and is not in the current PSS catalog. In 1940 it was in Hoover so a space was made on the album page. |

BTW - the postage due album takes three , 3-inch binders - it makes a big collection. The database gives these statistics for 1917 and earlier postage dues: 965 towns 1851 precancel types 6137 denominations 7500 stamps [including orientations on elecros and varieties] I don't know how many pages - but a lot! |

Thanks Jeff, I like it too The steamer "Segwun is birthed only 14 miles south of me and still is running lake cruises here. My wife and I have been on it several times and plan to be on it for our 35th anniversary this July. I thought it was fitting because I live near it Chimo Bujutsu |

chasa --
Since it looks like you hinge some of your precancels, I will ask you -- what do you do when you find a better copy?
I have finally started to put mine in my album, but I am already having to slice some of mine out as I find better copies. I am then soaking the hinges off the back, as time permits. But there is that risk of damage. Your advice would be appreciated. |
