Scott 721 Line Pair - A Faded Left Stamp?

Is the color fading in the left stamp just due to sunlight exposure or is something more? The fact that it is an attached line pair and the right stamp nor the overall cancellation is affected suggests to me that it was not a chemically altered example. Opinions?

I see a line from roughly 11 o'clock to about 5 o'clock (even a small amount on the right stamp - lower left corner). I'd say it's sunlight exposure.

The purples/violets always seem to be the most sensitive.

Thank you. I figured as much that it was sunlight exposure, but it seemed a bit odd that only one stamp was affected.

I agree with klange, you can see there's a line where the fading stops. It's possible that there was something laying on top of the stamps up to that line and therefore, only one stamp got affected.
