My god I think I hit a big find in this mess of stamps. I have it soaking but if I'm right I have a RN-12 2 cents Orange stamp. This is what the stamp looks like. http://www.rdhinstl.com/rn/i2.htm

Now I call it major because this stamp dates to 1867 and was only printed for one month. This would be the oldest stamp that I now own. I am really not sure it it is worth much though. My 2006 Scott shows a price of $250. I'm not sure if this value is for mint or used and of course I'm not even going to try and grade it.

The stamp does have a pen cancel on it. Give me a half hour and I will post this stamp. I have only hit the surface of the stamps I bought today. This one took me awhile to identify because I am way out of my area of knowledge.

Well here is the stamp. I know I am close to identifying it correctly. I think it is a nice stamp and since it is my oldest it is a major find even if it is worth less than a dollar.

Hi mkfarm,
Your stamp is R15c, 2c Internal Revenue, orange, perforated, CV 0.35.
RN-I2 has the same design but is revenue stamped paper.
This means the "stamp" is actually printed directly on the check.

Thanks I knew I was close but like I said I'm just not up on the revenue stamps. I like it even though it isn't a high value stamp it is an old one and in pretty good condition. It still was an exciting find for me.

Nice find! The best stamps aren't always the expensive or valuable ones.
