I was reading in the new Smithsonian Magazine a peice about the Hindenburg disaster and the 360 peices of mail that survived. Pretty amazing actually that anything survived at all!

I got to see two pieces of mail from the Hindenburg crash, this past weekend. They are part of Jim Graue's exhibit on German Airmail covers. It was an amazing exhibit!

In March, I was lucky to be able to attend the Westfield Stamp Club's 50th anniversary show, where Cheryl Ganz, co-curator of the the Postal Museum exhibition "Fire & Ice: Hindenburg and Titanic," gave a detailed talk with slides. Her exhibit was on view as well and had some striking crash covers. It was fascinating lecture.

I read that no mail survived from the Titanic.

You are correct, Stallzer. In Cheryl's case, she posesses 13 Hindenburg crash covers.
