in my older scotts I do not have a scotts listing for this stamp.
can I ask the number and the listed value...just curious.

I think your stamp is an FX66. It is not listed in the Scott Catalog as it is a Revenue Stamp. I think the Van Dam catalog is where the catalog numbering comes from. The link below suggests $2.50 for a block of 4 stamps is a retail sale price, so figure your stamp is worth about 60 cents or so (retail):

(Edit: I'm not sure about the lack of perforations on your example. It could be they were cut off; it also could be that there is an imperforate variety I am not aware of. Someone with a catalog will be able to give you more accurate information, I'm sure.)

It is possible that wt1 meant FX 99 rather than FX 66.(?) This is for the imperforate variety. FX 66 is in the perforated set issued between 1934 and 1948. A year is not given for the issusance of the imperforated one but the latest Van Dam catalogue lists a used single at $1.25.
